The Faith Presbyterian Church Family invites you to join us celebrating our Church's 70th Anniversary Celebration on July 14-16, 2017.


We are asking that you save these dates on your calendar so that you will be here to help us honor the proud legacy of Faith Presbyterian Church from its humble beginning in November 1947.


Each member, friend and associate of Faith is asked to give at least one dollar for each year of our journey or $70.00.  In addition, we are preparing an Anniversary Book wherein ads can be purchased by individuals, members of the Church family, friends, businesses and associates or you can become a patron.  Finally, we will be hosting an Anniversary Banquet and tickets will be available at a price of $35.00 per person.

In 1947 Faith Presbyterian Church was the first black Presbyterian church to be organized in Jackson, MS. One day Ms. Sally Cade was passing by and saw the building being erected.  She inquired its name and in reply she was told that no name had been selected.  Quickly came her suggestion that it be named Faith Presbyterian Church.  This was indeed an appropriate name because it required great faith to put up a building like this without a single negro Presbyterian in the city.  During the next stated meeting of the Jackson Presbyterian Council, her suggestion was presented and met with the Council's approval.

Attesting the personality, the dedication, ability and zeal of the organizing minister, Rev. Wayman J. Gipson, on December 28, 1947, the initial worship service was held.
